APSAC is developing a series of rapid-response APSAC Alert articles to meet the needs of professionals during

the COVID-19 pandemic. This edition, authored by Dr. Janet Rosenzweig, Executive Director of APSAC, presents information about what can be learned about child maltreatment during the COVID-19 pandemic through the use of the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS). She highlights what questions the dataset may answer and what limitations brought about by the pandemic may require other data sources.
